FOsen suggested this Funexcise and so here it is:

"'Tis the season - and it's been a few since the Sunscreen Song. Below are a valedictory and a maledictory poem. Post your own valediction, malediction, commencement poem or that of some famous poet/person (the first one got so squishy that I did a 2nd, which I like to imagine as being delivered in the voice of Dick Cheney, over a loudspeaker from an undisclosed location).

Valedictory

God save you from those who know where they are going
and are tooting their horns loud and long;

God save you from those who know what they are doing
and will tell you you’re doing it wrong;

God save you from those who know all of Who’s Who
and are certain its entries would never have you;

God save you from those who know when to say when
and say it, and say it, and say it again;

God save you from those who know why we are here
if their reasons depend on your hatred or fear;

God or not - save us all, and let us all be
fearless and questioning, happy and free.

Maledictory

Buckle up, batten down, shut up or get out;
over there’s the real world no one’s warned you about.
But before I explain how you haven’t learned jack,
here's some paper for you. Take a roll, pass them back.

~Frank "

This is the cleverest piece I've read on this site!

A Valediction in Early Morning

Goodbye. Good luck. Godspeed you on your way.
Not that I give a fuck. Have a good day.

A Malediction Forbidding Mourning

Cremate me. Stuff my ashes in an urn.
I want to get a head start on the burn.

Valedictory

By the strength of your arm, and the sight of your eye,
By the roar of your youth, by our whispered reply,
By the wisdom of sages, by your lover's sad sigh,
If nothing else learn this: Buy low, sell high.

Maledictory

Thanks for the words, and for the degree.
I love and respect you. Just die before me.
