The Heart of Darkness

I can barely find the words... it is just terrible.
I have a four-year-old daughter. I'm still trying to work through the emotions on this.

I think it's more the "Heart of Madness" than one of darkness.

From all accounts the man sounds and acts mentally ill - which doesn't make it less of a tragedy for the dead girl only more of one for the father and the rest of the family.

Meanwhile, in this country, a man killed himself, his wife, and 5 children because the couple had lost their jobs.

I don't know badly Oz is suffering from economic woes, but I think we can look for a lot more of this sort of thing in the near future.

I remember a similar incident, some years ago, in Arkansas, where my parents are retired. A man, angry with his wife, kidnapped their children, and threw them off a bridge into an icy river. The children were three and four, I think.

These incidents of violence leave us dumbfounded, silent before the depravity of the human heart.
