The Queerness of It All
frQg pQnd plQp "Queerness..." was the first Nichol poem I read and I became fascinated with the way the Q's replaced the O's. I want to know what people think of his work... he focused on letters (their sound, their look, the similarites between each one) and mixed art with a lot of his stuff. Visit this site http://www.thing.net/~grist/l&d/bpnichol/bp.htm for more examples of his poetry. What's the importance of letters in poetry? And I don't mean just as building blocks for words. What are the intrinsic properties of letters? When one considers that a letter is no more than a picture, is there a line between poetry and visual art? I hope this discussion goes somewhere, I'm very interested in Nichol's work [This message has been edited by Orwn Acra (edited January 15, 2008).] |
