Sure, we had abolished slavery a full five years earlier. And we would even start letting black people attend school with white people just 84 years after that. And it was not even a century later that we stopped having separate rest rooms for blacks and whites. And women would be permitted to vote a mere fifty years later. So of course there's no conceivable basis for thinking that the "customs" back then were more bigoted than our today. Glad you headed off that fool notion at the pass!
