"Lacklustre" is all too apt a word for my efforts in this one. I'm glad that I get to blame it on the deadline rather than on, you know, actual lack of lustre on my part. My Hannibal Lecter entry took the same laconic route as my Edward Hyde: "Floss and brush daily." Obviously, minimalism was not the way to go. (Not for me, at least. Max Ross, I note with chagrin, managed to win at a pretty spectacular per-word rate.) I am, of course, overwhelmed with bitterness about the Lecter resolution that did win. But the Blofeld is brilliant. Best wishes for a prosperous and creative 2011 to all -- even to those who have the questionable taste to win on weeks when I don't.
