Well, Jayne, after a few lean weeks at the beginning of the year, it’s getting better. But I still have to travel the long and winding road to get anywhere near Bill’s record. I’m surprised he’s still living in a bungalow.
As for my own wins, the gilt is taken off the gingerbread by that bad boy Nicholas Holbrook. He was only supposed to get a look-in if my two preferred entries had already succeeded. As you know, it happened last week as well, and when I saw the results yesterday, I groaned: “Oh, no! Not a second time!” You might think that all I’ve got to do to avoid the problem is to submit my worst entry under my own name, but sod’s law means that that’ll be the day that the judge finally agrees with me. If it happens again, I may have to borrow Maxwell’s silver hammer and give Holbrook’s kneecaps a good seeing-to.
