Let me try to put it more concisely, at the risk of not spelling things out quite enough. But it's really quite easy.

In the box where you compose your message, highlight the word or words that you want to be the link. For example, if you want the word "here" to be the link, highlight that word.

Then click on the little symbol at the top of the box that looks like a planet with a small chain link on it.

That should bring up a little box asking you to insert the URL (or web address) of the page you want to link to. Either type it in or cut and paste it.

Then you're done.

It's that simple. Let me just add that if you are cutting and pasting, note that the "http://" is already there, so be careful not to do it twice. And also be careful that you don't accidentally cut and paste more than the web address. Sometimes dead links are created because there's an extra period at the end of the web address.
