Default Frost/Kennedy film 3pm PDT on July 1

Not sure I can attend this, but I thought others here might enjoy this free online screening of the documentary film JFK: The Last Speech, followed by a discussion of its lessons, at 3pm Pacific Daylight Time, Thursday, July 1.

There are several sponsors, including the San Diego Public Library and the Robert Frost Society.

Quote:
JFK: The Last Speech beautifully chronicles President Kennedy’s convocation address to the Amherst College students and faculty on October 26, 1963. In what is widely hailed as one of his greatest speeches and 27 days before he was assassinated, Kennedy used the Frost Library dedication to exhort Amherst’s students to use their educations in the service of the public good and to celebrate Robert Frost as an archetype of the artist in a free society. Kennedy hailed Frost as a guardian of democracy, as one who spoke most prominently to the nation’s “spirit and self-comprehension.” Implicit in Kennedy's speech is an unequivocal defense of the humanities. In this era of political tension, when civic culture is fractured, when the value of liberal arts is questioned, a message from 1963 has particular resonance today.
3pm Pacific Daylight Time is 6pm Eastern Daylight time and 11pm Greenwich Mean Time (I think).
