Many of you know that one of the top prizes in children's publishing for writers is the Newbery Award. It is so important in the business that it has spawned several "Mock Newbery Awards" conducted by various organizations and book clubs. My book,
The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others (Able Muse/Word Galaxy 2023), has been nominated for the Mock Newbery Award found at Goodreads. That's one of the biggest and most visible Mock Newberys around, so it would be nice to win or do well.
