Roger, Louis Armstrong is a lightning rod for “that which shall remain unnamed”. He is an icon. When I watch him perform he almost always overwhelms me. Thanks for posting this one.


Someone I can’t recall ever being recognized on any music threads here is Ray Charles. A few days ago I saw him doing a cover of McCartney's Yesterday. There is a depth that he brings to the song that blew me away. It’s almost as if McCartney wrote that song for Ray Charles to sing. He takes some small liberties with a few lyrics in the name of improvisation, but the song is better for it.


Then, I tripped over this gem. There may be some here who have difficulty connecting to this kind of romantic sentiment, but there is no denying the noir magic that John C. Reilly brings to this Irving Berlin classic.
