Thank you for posting these.

You've persuaded me. These two samples are heart-rending - all the more, because they're so well done. Does Meredith maintain the same rhyme scheme (ABBACDDCEFFEGHHG) and death imagery throughout the entire sequence? As I'm sure you've already noticed, the rhyme scheme makes 4 quatrains with an envelope rhyme - each one containing a tiny moment in the overall disentegration. The death of a once passionate love is certainly one of the great themes. As a retired family therapist, I saw a lot of couples whose marriages, for one reason or another, were in various stages of disentegration;
and the impact on their children could be so disheartening to see.
