Boston area poets Bill Coyle and JD Scrimgeour highlight the Powow River Poets November 15 reading. The reading starts at 7:30 PM, Newburyport Art Association Gallery, 65 Water Street, Newburyport, MA, www.newburyportart.org and is followed by an Open Mike.

Powow member and WCU regular Bill Coyle is the 2005 winner of the New Criterion Poetry Prize for his first book, The God of This World to His Prophet. His poems have appeared widely in magazines and anthologies, including the Hudson Review, The New Criterion, the New Republic, and Poetry.

J.D. Scrimgeour is the author of The Last Miles, a collection of poetry, and currently, runs the Creative Writing Program at Salem State College. J.D.'s Massachusetts roots are deep and traditional: one of his ancestors was put to death for being a witch, and another served on the jury that passed down the death sentence.
