Thought I should drop in with a comment from Penny, even though she is now in happier lands. Hope this will work, since I'm new here.

The Stan and Penny thing took over my life for a little while. At first it was just a bit of cheery versifying. It's easy -- too easy perhaps -- to chunter along in rhyming iambics. So I decided Penny had better have a hard edge, and then as we proceeded that the metrical forms break out too. After that, it began to be really fun, and I got very involved with my character. Stan kept surprising me. Since we were both manipulating the plot, to each other's disadvantage, I would get home from work and RUN upstairs to see what Stan had done to Penny -- and often would howl with outrage, fired to get my own back. It was great. I had never intended Penny to die, but in the end, it was the only way I reckoned she could get the last word.

The final response, which was from the triplets, may not work so well in an email. It contains a footnote, as well as other alleged poems by Penny, so the layout was tricky. Better in a Word doc than an email or web page probably.

The whole thing reminded me how much fun verse can be. I had forgotten. Poetry gets so serious these days...Thanks to all who waded through the whole lot! If you had even 10%as much fun with it as we did, it was worth publishing.Nell
