Thanks for your suggestion, Gregory. I know I dislike reading long things on line. Hence my suggestion to skip to the short appendix at the end. Also, if anyone would like this in a Word document, send me your email address in a PM.
Bill, I wouldn't say anyone needs to cut anyone any slack. There are books of dimension that are a challenge that prove to be worthwhile. This is one of them. When we were young, friends of mine and I had long late-night readings. That worked well. My wife and I have read it aloud in shorter bits. That also works.
Michael, I always appreciate your stand for excellence. battlefield is excellent if not to everyone's taste. I don't enjoy a lot of free verse myself, but Stanford's is in the top tier.
