The decomposition loses some of the music:
'kopje' picks up 'Hodge'
'Wessex' picks up 'fresh' and 'bush'
'stars eternally' picks up 'strange-eyed constellations'
'breast and brain' is an attractive alliteration, whereas the alliteration and internal rhyme of 'become some tropic tree' are clumsy.
