Dear lady,

I have wondered--since 1973--why it
was that...

An unnamed, nonsex gendered narrator
Is sitting--or more probably--is lying
On a bed that's been prepared for him--or her
So he--or she--can finish life by dying--
The ailing narrator has made a will--
The grieving heirs are trying not to cry
When the scene is interrupted--by the shrill
Buzzing--of a hovering--buzzing--fly.

No Heavenly Windows open for this soul--
No tinkling harps--no rustling angel's wings--
Instead--the would-be corpse notes but a foul
Blue Bottle Fly--of all the crazy things!

Death would have been less grim--if he--or she
Had had a spray can filled with DDT.
--

Maybe you have an explanation why this odd
situation came about, in the first place.

Thanks,
Wheat
