The A.E. Houseman Room

When I was one-and twenty
I heard the desk clerk say,
"We accept most credit cards
To book your room today.
Use MasterCard and Visa.
We take Discovery.
But I was one-and-twenty,
No use to talk to me."

When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
"We'll take your check with ID.
Sir, do you need a pen?
But no, we don't take AmEx,"
He said with endless rue.
And I am two-and-twenty,
and oh, 'tis true, 'tis true.
