O
K!
These are
certainly
improving. I think
rhyme and other sound effects help.
Fibs have potential. I like Dan's pineaple poem.

Help
me.
I don't
understand
how I can do this.
I only have ten small fingers.
How do you expect me to add all these syllables?

I am crackin' up here....in the light of day, apparently I COULDN'T add "these syllables!! I had to add "all" to the last line just now to make 13

Love Fib

A
fib's
untrue,
unlike you.
Adding the last two
numbers together somehow grew
false, since one plus one is one is all I ever knew.

Response to Henry

Wise
words
indeed,
dear Henry,
and yet not quite true--
I can't agree with your last line,
since in fact I can chew gum and fart at the same time.

But
can
you fart,
chew gum, burp,
count fibonacci
numbers and rhyme at the same time?

I like that one, Roger. I've been trying to think of a way to make use of the pun. Whoops! We crossposted. I mean "Love Fib."

There
are
three kinds
of people:
those who can count and those who can’t.

We
all
dare you,
Marion,
to mention that in
your Nemerov Award bio.

Rob's rhyming close is an excellent innovation, I think.

I greatly like Michael's Rumsfeld, especially the last line:

'Give him his fucking Medal of Freedom and fire him', with its echo of the master:

'Over again I feel thy finger and find thee'.

Best regards,
David

A 6-line fib ends with twenty syllables, so you could break it up into two rhyming lines of iambic pentameter.

The next time it divides by ten is with a seventeen-line fib, the terminal line of which would contain 1397 syllables. You could break that fib up into 377 lines of rhyming iambic pentameter (you'd need a triplet in there or something).

Of course, with feminine endings and the like, everything changes.

Ogden Nash would've loved these things.

How so? A 6-line fib consists of 20 syllables in all, and ends with a line of 8 syllables. 1-1-2-3-5-8.

I
don’t
think it
would still be
a fib if you were
to reassemble it as two
IP lines, rhyming or not — who’d know it was a fib?

Example: how would anyone identify the following as a fib?

A fib is way too facile, I suppose,
if all you do with it is line-break prose.

Anyway who says every IP line has to have exactly ten syllables?
