Zoom chat on stage directors' choices
On Tuesday (4/7) at 1 p.m. west coast time, I'll host a Zoom chat for the Palo Alto Jewish Community Center about stage directors' choices.
This replaces a more formal presentation I was going to give in person and which has been rescheduled. It will be very informal. I'll show some clips of filmed stage productions (two productions of Cyrano de Bergerac and one of Twelfth Night), make some comments on the directors' choices, and open it up for others' comments.
There may or may not be a 100-person limit to the chat, and if there is, it may or may not mean that you'll have to log on early or be turned away.
Here's the JCC's message about the chat:
Making Choices: Bringing a Play to the Stage with Max Gutmann
Tuesday, April 7 at 1:00 PM via Zoom
How can a director help a modern audience experience a play the way its original audience would have in the past? How can a director support the text using a stage image? Get insights to the choices stage directors make when putting on a play.
For the Zoom link, PM me (or email me if you've got my email address) any time between now and Tuesday morning.
