Default "Anatomy of a Hounding"

As you may or may not be aware, last year there was a right kerfuffle, as we Brits say, in the Scottish Poetry scene. It was hard, though, beyond vague reports of "bullying" and "cancelling", to really get a handle on what was going on. The poet Jenny Lindsay has written a (fairly lengthy) essay detailing her reluctant central role in the events, which was published in the latest issue of The Dark Horse and is now available on its website. As Gerry Cambridge put it, the essay:

"generated more interest, feedback and reaction—and that's saying something—than any other in The Dark Horse's quarter century history. I wonder why that might be? Decide, dear reader, for yourself. Here it is:"

Thanks, Mark. I wasn't aware of this particular situation.

It should be obvious that freedom of expression and the free exchange of ideas are not compatible with inciting acts of violence and terrorism against people who don't share one's own views.

Thanks for looking in, Julie. I found the essay to be a compelling and troubling account of exactly what its title suggests: a hounding. Thought people might find it interesting.

Edit: But apparently not...

So this is Mark's infamous scottish kerfuffle.
I was interested in the article. The versions of events it conveys is certainly depressing. Another good reason to keep off Twitter.

I never look at Twitter. That article is disturbing.
