Congrats John

Had to happen!

Quoted from announcement thread:

"John Whitworth is one of those fattish, baldish, backward-looking, provincial poets in which England is so rich (perhaps too rich). "

You say "fattish, baldish, backward-looking, provincial" like they're bad things!

Many thanks to you all. Now I have surged to power I shall have to think of something to do. Meanwhile I will keep you up to speed with all those competitions in The Spectator and The Oldie and also any Poetry Competitions here that offer prizes for formal verse. I might mention the Ver Open Poets Competition (www.verpoets.org.uk) which offers prizes of £500, £300 and £100.Full details ought to be available from the website. If you can't get them I will tell you. The competition isn't SPECIFICALLY for formal verse but the judge does like that sort of thing. How do I know? Because he's me.
