Spherians at The Orchards
The terrific new issue of Orchards Poetry Journal is online, with a rich array of offerings by consummate poets, some being homegrown favorites: Robin Helweg-Larsen, Vera Ignatowitsch, Elise Hempel, James Owens, David Landrum, and Ted Charnley. I may have missed a few; please chime in if I inadvertently did.
As for yours truly, thrilled and honored to have The Fisherman among such a panoply; thank you to everyone who helped me turn a pretty kettle of fish around.
Here's a link.

What a lovely journal Orchards is!
Congratulations, Erik, and the other Spherians... including our own Ted Charnley, with an excellent sonnet.
(James Owens joined in 2001 but has yet to make his first post here, surprisingly.)

Jayne, thank you for the kind comment. And indeed for adding Ted Charnley to the deserving list of Spherians with poems in this issue! (methought I knew that name from somewhere.)
Ralph, thank you. Elegant is as apt an epithet for the poems in this issue as any. There, you get your fill of sonnets; not to mention a fair amount of cross rhyme in between; couplets; some free verse now and again; Robin Helweg-Larsen has a poem I enjoy, if I don't say so myself, with a fresh scheme (aabbcceffe with the two f's dimeter and the rest pentameter); my own happens to be a Kyrielle (French), among others.
Thank you, John. I might hasten to add that Carol Lynn Stevenson Grellas and Karen Kelsay, along with the rest of their team, should be credited for a beautiful job with this publication.
Cheers

Spherians at The Orchards
Dear All,
I just saw this thread after returning from West Chester, where I didn't have much internet or e-mail access. Thank you all for such kind words! This issue of The Orchards is indeed a terrific one, and I'm proud to be in such company. And Erik, congrats on "The Fisherman," casting your nets amongst all those sonnets.
Though Jayne and I are old acquaintances, I've never met Erik or any of the others on this thread. I know it may be a long way to travel for some, but if any of you can attend the West Chester conference next year, I would be delighted to meet you in person there. It's quite a rewarding experience to be a part of that community, and to mingle with such an assemblage of talent. I hope you will at least consider it.
Anyway, now it's back to the hum and drum of the everyday; I have fields to mow and, of course, it's supposed to rain all this week.
Ted
