OMG - I had no idea about this till just now, when I read an email from Chris (O'Carroll) ...thank you, Chris, for alerting me!

The first of my German relatives (for the next five weeks) arrived yesterday, so for the last couple of weeks I've been AWOL from the Sphere - too busy tidying up the garden, frantically cleaning the house etc, in readiness - so I'm really out of touch.
I haven't received my Literary Review yet, and can't even remember my entry, but as soon as it pops through my letterbox I'll post a thread with the results, as I undertook to do from last month.

Meanwhile...I'm still stunned - think I'll go and open a bottle of something!
Thanks John, Holly, Bob and Maryann for your kind remarks.

Danke, Julie!

Sorry, folks, STILL haven't received my Literary Review but I've been having major problems with postal deliveries for several weeks since my regular postie inconsiderately went off to have an operation. (Two letters arrived 3 weeks after being posted!) Perhaps John will start the new LitRev thread this month? You'll be wanting to see the results (I certainly am!), plus the theme for next month's comp.

Default woo-hoo!

Congrats, Jayne. You got the biggie we all crave.

Coming out late is practically the default with the bleedin' LitRev.

I've tried to transfer my online copy stuff to here but it's a complete failure. Next month's competition which must rhyme and scan and can be as long as twenty-four lines is 'Party Animal'.

And this came to me - jut like that. It won't win. As I've said the guy is definitely short in the funny-bone department, but I like it.

By the way, Jayne's poem is great. You'll have to take my word on that till she gets her copy.

Party Animal

The fearsome Fascist Beast
Is hideous and horrid,
His hairy hands are greased,
His face is fat and florid,
He lives in the South East,
And hasn’t any forehead.

His pelt is Prussian blue,
His head is huge and hoary,
He’ll stab you through and through
With daggers sharp and gory,
The people’s bugaboo,
Whose Sunday name is Tory.

Of base, ignoble feature,
Though clothed in silk and ermine,
He’ll lie in wait to eat yer,
Unless you now determine
To slay the sorry creature
Like any other vermin.

The World is not a park,
And Life is not a circus.
It’s more a forest dark
With fierce and feral lurkers
Who bite as well as bark.
Take Courage! Up the workers!
