It's true that when Cantor and Tice
Start to argue, they're sometimes not nice,
And to watch can be fun,
But when all's said and done
Pachoogian and Lehr will suffice.

Soon Michael will post, I declare,
A vast limerick especially rare.
We’ll continue to try
To be the funnier guy
That can formulate better hot air.

Re: “R JTlOGJTlO BaC”

The person who wrote that’s no hooker.
Much more of a library nooker.
‘Twas scripted at speed,
Took a moment to read;
She’s actually a very good looker.

Roman letters are really quite grand.
They are found in many a land
Transcribing good stuff
And a lot of pure guff.
Etruscan par exemplum is bland.

(Thank you, Martin and Matt, I think.)

Bob and Doug,
You've both had me in stitches... Thank you for a good chuckle (but it's spelt 'Poochigian', Bob).

Michael,
I hope your sense of humour prevails, and you've got over your curmudgeonliness (I don't think there's such a word, but you know what I mean...). There's no unkindness intended here... it does no harm to be the butt of jokes sometimes, or even to make one at our own expense. (See below.)

Allen,
“R JTlOGJTlO BaC”

What on earth is this about?? I haven't a clue where you're going with it.

I'll admit that I'm often confused;
Allen's posts mostly leave me bemused.
Classicist I am not,
I'm a thick, stupid clot,
But I'm blonde, ...therefore I am excused!

Jayne

Jayne,

A parakeet thinks “R JllO6JllO BaC” mysterious,
But babbles it whenso it wills.
(There’s a mirrorized glyph, I declare:
To read, study up, don’t despair.)
Re: those three words that bind,
If said loosely, ain’t kind.
“R JTlOGJTlO BaC” must be serious,
Or a language class drill of your skills.

Hope that helps,
Allen

Er... well, I'm still baffled, Allen, sorry.

Is it because it's late and I'm tired? Is it because I'm a dumb blonde? Is it just me????

I'll wait, and hope that you or someone else will enlighten me. Meanwhile, I'm off to bed, perchance to dream of paradoxes.

Jayne

My guess:

It's Russian (or similar), but wrongly encoded/decoded, so that it maps onto a standard Western character set (ascii maybe) rather that cyrillic characters.

Matt, very good. Assuming that I got things into passable Roman typography, what does it say?

The world craves a hundred new giggles.
Vast atoms with gymnastic jiggles
Earn plenty escudos
Or fantasy kudos:
Fierce limericks with ulterior wiggles.

The Limerick’s diddle-de-dee
Is verse that is strictly un-free
The tradition is bucked
When the scansion is fucked
And it puts off the purists like me

Something in Russian, I imagine

I don't know Russian, or which method you used to shift from Cyrllic to Roman characters, so I'm thinking the work involved in solving this would outweigh the satisfaction I'd get from doing so.

How about I get five escudos instead of ten, and we call it quits?
