To save Jayne the trouble of moving the other thread to D & A, I thought I'd start a new one here.
Poor Kavanaugh started to cry.
“My life is destroyed by a lie!
It can’t have been me,
’Cause my friends all agree
I was drunk as a judge that July.”
********************
“Unfair!” the Republicans cry.
“Judge Kavanaugh’s our kind of guy.
Young Brett didn’t do it,
But if he did, screw it –
All boys will be boys when they’re high.”
********************
“What we want”, the Republicans drool,
Is a Judge who will act as our tool.
Merrick Garland? Too smart.
Need a man with no heart
Who’s a liar, a cheat and a fool.”

Susan Collins, kow-towing to POTUS,
Has helped the election to SCOTUS
Of a vile, drunken creep.
Though her vote wasn't cheap,
Let's welcome dear Susan to SOTUS. *
Oh yes, explaining what SOTUS as opposed to SCOTUS stands for really helps explain the punchline. Also like the way the footnote is as much a part of the poem as the stanzas.
Young women, though weak, are quite splendid,
So we've always ensured they’re defended,
If a man’s placed a hand,
It’s a fair reprimand
That his time at the White House be ended.
