Default F F Teague - I'm watching you, pigeon!

LOL - does George think the pigeon could do harm to his little ones? Is he watchful or curious? haha

Love it! Also a very smart pigeon, self-consciously nonchalant.

George, however, looks very watchful to me, so my vote would be watchful over curious.

Hi mignon and Sarah-Jane,

Thanks very much for taking a look at my latest black-and-white photo :-)

Here, George's paternal instincts lead him to scare off a bird that might present a threat in food terms, hence his watchful demeanour. Farther down the bank, a couple of people are throwing food for the cygnets and a few pigeons are wadding around hoping to get a snack themselves. They are very smart on the whole, the Pittville pigeons :>)

I do like 'curious' though; perhaps 'bird-curious'?

Best wishes,
Fliss

Hi Fliss.

I'm not very adept at using Facebook, or I'd be able to show you, but yesterday I saw a video posted by, I think, my Spherean friend David Anthony. It showed the utterly amazing interaction between a magpie, a cat and a fox cub - luckily captured by someone who was on the ball!

Photos of wildlife very much depend upon being in the right place at the right time, but it's truly gratifying when it goes right

Jayne

Hi Jayne,

I think I've seen David Anthony about here; nice chap. That video sounds great; yesterday li'l bro sent me a video of our 2016 family trip to Birdland and I can't really stop watching it, lol. He is very much on the ball!

With this photo, Mum and I were nattering away on the banks of Upper Lake, Pittville, watching the cygnets with a pleasant couple, when George appeared rather suddenly to our right, eyeing the pigeon! I happened to have my camera poised to photo the cygs, so I just had to do a little shimmy to get into position for the shot. Of course George is a rather wonderful subject, which helps :>)

Wishing you a pleasant week ahead,
Fliss
