Default Huncke launch on Feb 28

Hey folks,

On Sunday, February 28th, from 3-5PM, come celebrate with us (online) the re-release of Rick Mullin's Huncke.
The poem has been revised and extended and is published by EXOT BOOKS in a handsome edition designed by Julio Perea, that includes 17 of the author's paintings.

As Siham Karami writes in her afterword:
"This is clearly not the sort of poetry that 'molders in the stacks / of storage rooms,' but the kind that actively creates a world whose ecosystem can't help but stimulate a heightened awareness of the interaction between life, politics, and art; an ecosystem that also contains, for your reading pleasure, a funhouse, where you will definitely get deliriously lost."

And as Rick Mullin writes in the poem itself:
".....Let's not be baffled.
The man is more than anything, a scaffold."

There will be an overture from publisher R. Nemo Hill, and a reading & remarks by Rick Mullin.
As well as some hopefully high-spirited chat among attendees from around the globe!

Due to recent ZOOM bombings, we are taking extra precautions.
Please contact the organizers at hunckelaunch@gmail.com for a secure link to the event.

The book is for sale now at exotbooks.com

Hope to see you on the 28th.

Nemo

That e-mail address is (to repeat) hunckelaunch@gmail.com

We need to send the link through this contact in order to protect it and to get an idea of who should be arriving as we moderate entry.

...Thanks,
RM

Ditto! It's a wonderful book, and it really deserved this sort of communal celebration. I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with so many old friends and new, in five countries.

Fourth post down on page 8 of this old thread is the story of Cally and the Amish Cheese Seller, which came up in the after-chat.

Great job today, Rick ! (And great job by Nemo, too.)

Huncke was the first book of yours I bought (inscribed!), but I know buying the new edition won't be the last time I add a Rick Mullin book to my shelf.

Hi, I just wanted to say 'thank-you' too. It was a lovely event - and very well organised. Really, really great to hear the author of Huncke read and explain/navigate us through the Cantos, which I'm finding a complex and rewarding read as well as a very well-designed artefact.

What a lovely, welcoming community too. I realised as I watched the pre-chat that people who have known each other for years were (some of them) for the first time perhaps joining up in a different, live, way. It was moving to watch, and curiously joyful (hope in the world, after all). I'm not trying to be voyeuristic, btw - it was just such a special thing to be part of - the diarist in me prods me to articulate it.

Thank-you again Nemo, Rick and all the organisers.

Sarah-Jane
