New / Returning Moderator Announcement
Dear Eratosphereans,
It's my pleasure to announce Curtis Gale Weeks as the new/returning co-moderator for the Non-Metrical Poetry forum. At the same time, I'm sorry to announce that Elle Bruno Love--our very first and very long-standing Non-Metrical forum moderator is stepping down ... and my thanks to her for the immense and long-sustained contribution to Non-Met!
Back to Curtis -- when I asked him for a bio for this announcement, he indicated that he didn't have any that's relevant/interesting, but if this quote from his response is not a relevant and interesting bio--maybe in an unconventional sense--I don't know what is--
When I left Eratosphere many years ago, I stopped writing poetry, focusing on blogging instead. For a few years, in addition to maintaining various personal blogs, I managed a blog focusing on military strategy and theory and had several co-bloggers. We developed a specific military theory relating to the future of warfare which culminated in a book edited by one of my co-bloggers called, The Handbook of Fifth-Generation Warfare published by Nimble Books. My contribution to that book was a mere two short essays stripped from that blog by my co-blogger when he requested something for inclusion.
Otherwise, I haven't sought publication for anything.
Eleven years have passed since I was first invited to moderate on Eratosphere. Before and since, I have lived in Southwest Missouri; I'm an autodidact and something of a committed amateur all-around—preferring search and research, and exploration, to publication or a career focused on academics.
I'm sure that Curtis will do an excellent job sustaining and revitalizing the Non-Metrical forum, and the work posted and critiqued there.
Please join me in giving a warm Eratosphere welcome back to Curtis!
Cheers,
...Alex

Curtis---
welcome home.
and Elle, boy will i miss you; your good humor, amazing ability to quickly measure a poem and articulate so clearly your view --- well, inspirational is a word that comes to my mind---so does the term poetry pal; and friend.
please keep us updated on your next poetry dance partner.

On Learning from Elle
Very ,very sad news that Elle is stepping down. You have been the gold standard of moderators for me. Your patience, good sense, humour and imagination have been a constant. The fact that you have been so hard to please has always been an inspiration. You have set high standards.
Nevertheless I think you will still be there in my head. Good supervision always becomes a creative internalised voice, and your voice will stay with me.
A big welcome to Curtis...Does this mean I will have to start reading Nietzsche again?
Steve.

Dee, I don't how you managed to do it so well for so long. You were always reasonable, kind, fair, and very, very patient.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there in the non-met delivery room to slap my babies bottoms. Your doctoring saved the lives of so many new born poems.
Curtis, welcome aboard!
Best,
Donna

Welcome, Curtis, and thanks, Elle, for dealing so well and so patiently with so many of us for so long. You are now free to pursue your life's dream - line after line and stanza after stanza of perfectly rhymed, perfectly metronomic iambic pentameter. Drop us a note when you get to the repetends!

Big Welcome to Curtis who has has proven himself over many years of discussion and participation.
He will do a great job- already has!
Although I'm leaving moderating, I'm not leaving the board.
I'm looking forward to participating as a regular citizen again.
My time as mod has been very enjoyable and educational
but it's nice to be a free chick once more....
Best to all, Dee/Elle
