Default my new book is a witch

My new little book, The Witch Demands a Retraction: Fairy-Tale Reboots for Adults, came out yesterday. I'm thrilled to report that it's now the #1 new release in humorous verse AND ranked just below such bestsellers as F Is for Fart and Gomer the Gassy Goat. I have arrived.

(Please note that Witch is *not* for kids, no matter how adorable the illos are. And they are damn adorable, thanks to artist Ron Barrett, whom you may know as the genius behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.)

Plug for **Humorist Books**: it's early days yet, but my experience with them has been very good so far, so keep them in mind if you've got funny manuscripts in search of a publisher.

LOL, don't go anywhere near the Seuss thread in General Talk, Melissa, or it will blow up again!

Warm congratulations, and I look forward to the book.

Once upon a time, some of these poems were dangerously funny individually. Gathering a bunch of them in one volume looks like a sketchy enterprise at best. I've ordered a copy, of course, but sensible people might wanna keep their distance. Look elsewhere for happily ever after.

Thank you, Julie and Chris! Chris: since you've recklessly ordered a copy, please send me your address so I can ship you a signed bookplate. It might even rhyme. (The same offer stands for anyone who has the paperback: just message me at melissa.balmain@rochester.edu.)

Bill, Siham, Rob: thank you! (And Rob, again, it was such a pleasure to read with you on Wed.)

As for you, Susan, what an absolutely lovely and generous review! I am blushing.

Congratulations on this, Melissa! I really enjoyed your Walking in on People, and will have to get my hands on a copy of this one as well.
