Default The Oldie: Prose Challenge

Jerome Betts won money for his wonderful paean to marmite in the 'What's for Dinner', But of course few of you will know what Marmite is. Ozzies have their own version called 'Vegimite' I'm told. I also won for a poem recycled from somewhere else - always nice when you do that. Gerard Benson, by the way, another winner, though not a Spherean, is a published poet both for aduts and children.

This month's offering:

COMPETITION NO 122

It's a prose challenge this month. A disappointed reviewer from Field and Stream magazine once wrote that, despite its intermittent remarks on the raising of pheasants, Lady Chatterley's Lover 'cannot take the place ofT R Miller's Practical Gamekeeper'. Please provide a similarly disappointed review of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by the critic from Our Cats, of Jersey Boys by the critic from Knitwear Today, or some similar mismatch. Maximum 150 words.

Entries to 'Competition No 122' by 12th March 2010. Post to The Oldie,
65 Newman Street, London WIT 3EG; fax 020 7436 8804; or e-mail comps@theoldie.co.uk - don't forget to include your postal address.
