My musings on Rembrandt's stunning evocation of Jan Six are on the Ekphrastic Review today. The poem is called "The Meeting". Worth a look, if only for the Rembrandt.

It has long been my favourite among his portraits and has suddenly (as from last year) become rather better known as a consequence of Geert Mak's wonderful book tracing the story of this remarkable family.
A best-seller in the Netherlands and the English edition is just as beautifully produced.
