Well, you need a report from somebody in the audience, but my report as a participant is that it was lots of fun. People who are on Facebook should be able to see my pictures--and Kate Bernadette Benedict's pictures, which are way better than mine, because she WAS in the audience.

We started a bit late, because nobody herded us onto the stage, but we eventually got out there. Everybody read very well indeed, IMO. There were very short poems and very long ones (Jacqueline Osherow gets the prize for length, I think) but all were well delivered--and except for one mysterious mic failure, quickly cured by Michael Robbins, no sound system trouble. It did go on quite long, what with socializing and book signing; we got out of there about 10.

From my vantage point, it looked like somebody was videotaping. Maybe we'll hear more about that.

Much enjoyed hearing three poets I've known for years as well as meeting Nausheen and hearing her, and seeing other poet-friends there. I stayed for the first half and somehow managed to arrive just before Maryann read (she was the first of the Sphereans to read in alphabetical order). Ilya Kaminsky was dramatic but I couldn't understand a word he said till I later read his poem in the anthology. The audience at the BAP reading is generally almost as interesting as the readers (but not quite). If I'd known Rhina was there I would have looked for her. Congratulations to all of you who read!

I wish I could have been there. I'd love to hear more details, see photos.
