Just to mention that there is another exception to the octosyllabics among the Cautionary Tales, "Aunt Jane" which is in anapaestic stanzas (alternating tetrameter and trimeter) rhyming ABAB.

Some marvellous stuff here. My problem isn't that I can't write cautionary poems but that I have never twittered nor texted nor been texted or twittered at in my life. So alas I leave it to Roger who is brilliant.

Thanks, Janet.

I've redone the last two lines of my "Johnny" poem. Here's the last stanza as edited:

In fact it was a Man named Jim
Who took a knife and Limb by Limb
And bloody Slice by bloody Slice
Showed Johnny that his Folks' Advice
Was wiser than he'd known before.
Now Johnny chats online no more.

I'd like it more, Rajah, if it weren't so utterly disgusting.

I like it how it is, sheets of blood and all.

Virtual Pillow Talk

My darling, how I yearn to hear
sweet nothings while we're having sex.
So if you'd be my lover, dear,
then you had better learn to text.

Yeeks! My 13-year old son texts almost constantly! What should I tell him?
