Gail,

Great minds think alike.

I think part of my inspiration was that this summer, for the first time in my life, a bird pooped on me. Ugh! It was so disgusting! I guess I have more sympathy for these poor statues now.

A friend just sent me an e-mail to tell me that I actually won some money in this thing. I was stunned (about as much as if I'd won the Nobel Prize for physics) but I checked and it seems to be true.

(Just noticed that this was reported yesterday on another thread! Apologies! )

Congratulations, Gail! I was sorry that I was too busy to work on my idea for "thomeday my plinth will come." But perhaps it's just as well.

Susan, that is very funny. You know, doubtless the one about the recalcitrant postal film processing unit. Some day my prints will come.

Oddly enough, George Simmers, editor of Snakeskin, took a turn on the fourth plinth last month to read his tetrameter "Plinth Poem" for nearly an hour! The performance is archived on Anthony Gormley's One & Other site, and is really worth a peek.

Congrats, Gail!

Kathleen

Omigod!!!!;-)

I watched and listened to the daunty wee chap orating like a trooper and marvellous it was. 1 AM. And he has a L-O-N-G poem full of witty rhymes and he's up there with his website address taped to the floor of the plinth (sort of--he got tangled in the tape) and he's heroic for poetry.

Well done George Simmers.

Yay, Gail! Speaks for all of us who've been pooped on, either metaphorically or literally.
