Well, when heavy-hitters (and grab humorists) like you and Julie see an armadillo, who am I to trot out my old experiences as evidence to the contrary.
It's interesting that you think of Armadillo as a war poem. I've always thought "Rooters" was one, but Armadillo seemed less metaphoric and more an example of Bishop's stunning ability to observe the world and turn those observations into well-wrought and original language. But thanks for that; I'll have another look.
