Default Is this a poem?

Is this a poem? Is it funny? Am I missing something?

No, it's not a poem or funny and you're not missing anything. I'm sure what you and I sent them was way better.

Well. That seems tedious. Just visited the Picasso museum in Barcelona and was reminded how he engaged with the tradition before launching into the new. Not something a lot of artists bother with these days.

Cheers,
John

Honestly, that might be one of the worst "poems" I've read in awhile. And given that I've judged a couple of undergraduate sonnet contests recently, that's saying something.

Roger - Thanks for confirming my feeling (that I wasn’t going crazy). I have no doubt that whatever you sent in was far better. I sent something in, too. But that’s life.

John - I’m envious that you saw those Picassos. And I agree with your assessment of the general trend in art these days.

Shaun - Your thoughts are nice to hear!

Not more than five minutes ago, I clicked on that one and quit in a hurry. I liked the title, but the rest is "making it (crap) new!" with a vengeance. I've also noticed that most contests like that honor looooooong poems. I don't do long.

I've been thoroughly disappointed so many times with the Wergle Flomp... I gave up submitting to it yonks ago.

I'm sure it's only the wacky name that attracts people to it in the first instance. It's a big let-down.

Whether or not it is a good poem is a more interesting question. It is not a good poem.

I read the 2nd Place poem and thought it slightly better, but only slightly.

You get what you pay for.
I applaud them for keeping it free.
But their taste is abysmal.
And they may not have taken this into account:
I no longer respect WW
and would never pay for any of their other services.
That same scenario plays out in all too many places these day.
