I hadn't read the Lynne Knight before. Excellent.

Glad to have introduced you. Lynne is an all-time fave of mine, and that is (obviously) an all-time fave poem. She used to live here in Berkeley and I got to know her a bit after asking her to read for First Wednesday Formal (she's done some very good sonnets, and often has the trace of meter in her work). I asked her for a blurb for my book and she gave me the most generous response -- practically a book review. She is a wonderful soul.

Anyway, she moved up to John Beaton's neck of the woods about a year or so ago.

A few of my favorites:

R. Nemo Hill, my mother's legs are weeping
(It came to me at a time when I needed introspection and it opened things up... and still does when I return to it for meaning.)

Billy Collins, Christmas Sparrow , Child Development

I'm pushing this thread back up because some people may have missed it first time round, and because it's a rather wonderful thing (thanks again for starting it Aaron).
