Default WonderClub (book theft)

Some person or group called WonderClub is, without permission, offering in digital and audio (!) formats the five books my briefly active light-verse publishing company printed, and charging handsomely for them. (Most of the authors are Spherians.)

If you've published, you might check out the link to see whether your books are among the extensive offerings. [Edit in: I've been advised that the site's main purpose may be the spread of computer viruses, so anyone wanting to see whether their books are listed should be cautious.]

Before I send a cease and desist message: does anyone have a better suggestion about approaching the matter? Ideally, I'd like to get the authors some sort of compensation for the theft and (attempted) sale of their work. Thanks for any advice.

Max, I am so sorry to see this. My great sympathies.

You might try asking the head of some Print-on-Demand press, like Kevin Walzer with Word Tech, or a self-published ebook author site or forum (such as those public ones at Amazon), since it seems like I have read these are two venues which are typically "hit" by this sort of theft.

I wish you the best in resolving it!

Jennifer

Thank you for the ideas, Jennifer. I'll do both of those things. I've written to a self-publisher I know to ask for forum recommendations, and I'll write to WordTech. The only contact info I find at WordTech's site is a generic email address. If you have a more direct line to Mr. Walzer and don't think he'd mind your sharing it with me, please PM it to me. (I'll make some space in my full inbox in a few moments.)

Thank you.

It is my pleasure. That is a rotten act -- but perhaps you can take a painful sort of flattery, in the fact these pirates felt your books were worth stealing!

I have sent two email addresses to your box here. Please let me know, if you do not receive them.

Again, all the best, resolving the matter.

Jennifer
