Default Staggers Lack of

My friendly Uni newsagent doesn't have The Staggers this week. Anyone who DOES have it, please post any successes and if the competition looks a goody, then post that as well. Canterbury is a bit in the sticks, I regret to say.

Default new staggers comp

I took a quick shufti in W H Smug yesterday. Can only remember I was not among the winners of 4166, but 4169 is advice on economising in 125 words or fewer. Sourcing the advice is up to you (their examples: parent to children, political speech).

Economizing: Sounds like something I need to do.

Mrs. Thrift

My resident gorbellied Harpy is cross.
"Out with the paper," says my thrifty crone.
"Here are your tools, this chisel and stone.
No paper, no PC--count 'em all loss.

"So now you'll pause before chiseling a word.
That's right, my scribbler, now you'll have to THINK!
I'm economizing, you've pushed us to the brink
with your reams of forests--you tree-killing turd!

"And I'll help. Here's a text, a first, a one liner.
Got your chisel ready to economize?
See that the dust doesn't fly in my eyes
when you chip out your mantra: uxor regina."

For what it's worth, here's a link to the lonelyhearts results:

I'm sure the Top Gear results will heave into view sooner or later.
