Default Lying Eyes

Lying Eyes

Your lying eyes will tell you this is all
preposterous, obscene; that Donald Trump
and his attendants are a carnival
of theft, deceit, and treason; that they jump

to humor tyrants and demean the free
on the world stage; to redistribute wealth
into their croniesí pockets; publicly
to back a pedophile, and to bring stealth

only to breaking every promise made
as they mine the republic. You would not
be listening. A smiling cavalcade
will ease your troubled mind, if now the plot

escapes you, you have second thoughts. The brain
is no unsleeping organ; let it sink
back into stupor. You may vote again
before you die, thatís all you need to think.

How apt it would be if one could hear your sentiments set to the Eagles kind of music.

But he knows where she's going as she's leaving;
She's headed for the cheating side of town...

Fine song! I'd be happy to hear this to that melody.

Cheers,
John

I. For the Record

The president exalts one into trust,
his sanctions still convenient, seldom just,
and senators reverse their tune in turn,
stoop to embrace the man they used to spurn;
they took the moral high ground yesterday
only to show how far they slink away.

II. Here, here...

Hold, factious monster! of divided states,
with wrangling talents formed for foul debates:
curb that impetuous tongue, nor, rashly vain
and singly mad, tweet up a smear campaign.
Have we not known you, x tv-show host?
You who have done the least still brag the most.
No president has been less qualified;
the least in merit is the first in pride.

D’s Lying I/Aye/Eyes

A Sonnet

I want it
I see it
I grope it
I grab it

I pet it
I lay it
I cheat it
I buy it

I charm it
I rape it
I fear it
I wed it

I have it
I hate it
