Hello, Roger:

You say Moses as a bloke
was not fond of artichoke.
You tell us he was the "Giver"
of both Bible and chopped liver,
but, Roger, I'll tell you true
as old nags are boiled to glue,
as a chef of prodigious mien,
though of 'chokes he wasn't keen,
Moses was the crème de la crème.
He cooked up a storm, did M.
So I say, "Give one for the Giver,
Old Moses would always deliver!"

Chris

At first I thought perhaps I ought
not to mention how much I like salmon,
a dish which here, the desert so near,
does not go down well with backgammon.
So heed me well, it’s seeds that’ll tell
(as it were) the camels from the goats,
you just won’t find (not on anyone’s mind)
health cookies made from nuts-n-oats.
Instead, dried watermelon, pumpkin and sunflower
seeds and others too varied to count,
the husks of which, hour after hour,
with their front teeth folks split, and spit out.
I’m a right dumb cow, coz I never learnt how
(It’s ok – only myself I’ve vilified)
But I will re-enact til their method I’ve cracked,
hoping one day to feel less sillified!

Hello, my old forum, I know you’ve been well,
and I’m sorry that I’ve been away such a spell
but I think that by now I am able to tell
you my story.

I’ve created a project that’s larger than I,
but in doing so got more demand that supply
and I do hope you know this is not a goodbye
without glory.

I shall see you again in the chances I get
to catch up on your poems; I will not forget
what they’ve meant.

"Chance is a Fools Name for Fate"
(a line used in a very-young-Fred Astaire film, and borrowed for this poem)

I’m becoming an avid believer
that time has a plan of its own,
for whatever it is I am doing
it seems to have already known
it was coming; I know this sounds funny,
perhaps I’ve not said it quite right.

Best wishes,

Zita
