Jerome, I'm loving this issue already--and I've barely scratched the surface! How thoughtful of you to publish on a day when I have a stack of student papers to grade. My reward after each one: reading five more pages of LUPO.

My first pass through the issue offered many occasions for laughter. Two of the high points were Mae Scanlan's poem on growing old (always good for a laugh) and Max's more sprightly versions of Shakespeare. Who knew the Bard just needed an editor to really shine?

There is seriously brilliant stuff going on in this issue, Jerome! Like Melissa, savouring slowly, but honestly - speaking of Melissa - Melissa, that is hilariously true!
And Gail White! Those rhymes had me in stitches!
And wow to Ed's Statue of Liberty - insanely good.
And the absolute classic -- Walter's Paul.
What a fabulous issue Jerome. What a great job you do, putting such an array of quality together!

I'm emailing from my house/igloo down here in the palm-infested south-west, as the Beast from the East battles with Storm Emma from the South for the third day running, to thank Melissa, Roger and Cally for their appreciative words about the issue and its contributors. It's a pleasure to work with such a sparkling bunch. Now, I'm just going outside and may be some time . . .
