LATE-BREAKING NEWS ON THE MICHAEL CANTOR STORY
Washington: FBI experts now conclude that the ink blotch in the evidence that Mr. Cantor was "Jack the ripper" was, in fact, covering the letters "St" making his true hidden identity "Jack the Stripper." Outraged reporters from the numerous morally upright publications tracked him down to explain his wickedness. His only comment was, "Hey, can I help it that chicks want me?".

Apologies for being so non-responsive on this thread, but I've been devoting all of my spare time to offing an additional 2000 citizens, so that Dan would not be accused of inaccuracy. (The unpublicized and unrecognized shit I do for some of you people - generally without thanks - would be discouraging if it wasn't for the fact that I welcome criticism, even unfair criticism from nasty old Alan Sullivan, because that's why I'm here; and I would never dream of whining about the graceless and almost insulting lack of appreciation.)
The problem is that, because that's the kind of guy I am, I've decided to level the playing field, so to speak, by focusing on potential voters who support the Administration's actions (any Administration and any action will generally do, but this time it's the Bush Administration and Iraq.) And it is almost impossible to find those individuals here in the Northeast. I gather there were some, but they've bundled into cammies, strapped on their weapons, coalesced into great, belching Winnebago caravans, redolent with the fumes of gun oil and beer, and headed for Arizona to defend our borders. So it's been tough slogging, and I may soon return to sonnetry. Or falconry. Possibly bestiality. But something challenging.

Better question.....do you think the U.S. is going to win in Iraq.....and if so, what do we win and how do we know?

Michael -- I'm sorry. I cannot be critical of you. I reached out to you for help and you offered it. PERIOD, END OF STORY.

Lo –
The problem is complex. Rumsfeld said over and over this was an asymmetric war but it was never fought that way. Both Syria and Iran should have had to pay a high price for their support of the insurgency. They weren’t—there was no parity. If a dollar caused the other guy to spend 10,000—that’s a war that can be fought a long time.
As I have said in the past I don’t think Bush’s headlights look far enough down the road.
We simply cannot afford to be totally oil dependant on a area of the world with a country that can dominate the region as an atomic power. That puts us back in the cold war MAD status. We have a treaty to defend Israel. Iran attacks Israel with one bomb—it’s gone. We retaliate against Iran with nukes and it’s a country made of glass.
We should have been building atomic power plants by the dozens but our own coal industry funded Dem advocacy groups to do their screaming for them about “the danger of nuclear waste”.
The theory I think the Republicans are working on is a stale-mate until the Iranian students revolt and Iraq can stand up on its on security. This may not be possible for a nation that has lived with terrorism for 40 years. It may take more than one generation. A viable democracy with a good army will be a deterrent to Iran.
Everyone is working on a clock that keeps different time.
To again answer your question—what have we won in Iraq—(IF WE WIN AND AREN’T FORCED TO CUT AND RUN BY THE DEMOCRATS). We won a stale-mate while we make a “tar baby” for the next administration.
There’s a lot more but I’m writing this on the fly (and probably not too well)
