Janice Gould
A true and exquisite poet died yesterday.
If you haven't read Janice Gould's poems before, please begin. She has left her body, but I can hear her so clearly in her poems. She lives in them. She truly does.
Like her self, Janice's poems are as light and strong as spider silk.
A warm wind blows in winter.

Thank you so much for this, Calligraphy!!!! Without this I wouldn’t have known, even heard of her. So much I don’t know, it’s terrifying. Such a beautiful soul and voice, her pitch-perfect poems. So much more needs to be made of this, bringing her to the attention of people who would certainly love her work.
Sad but at the same time uplifted,
Arrow

Yes, Arrow!
Yes, Mems! (and thank you)
In the autumn, when the students return, there'll be several memorials and memorial readings for Janice in Colorado Springs where she lived and taught and wrote (lately also being the Poet Laureate of the mighty Tava (Pikes Peak) ).
I'll post an announcement when these times come, and hope that readers here who may be in the area will come along.

I hadn't known of her work till now. Thank you for that. I'm sorry to hear of her passing. "Music is happy and pitiless when / it sets fire to combustible souls."
Best,

I too am happy to hear of this poet. Sorry to hear of her passing. I liked "Discontent" and its closing line: "We must have deserved it."
Cheers,
John

New to me, Kali. I really like her. Gonna really dig in. Feels like a special meeting finding her work. Thanks very much.
(BTW, it is lovely here this time of year. We honor the restablishment of the monarchy this morning with tanks and morons. Indigenous people of the Americas are caged at the border by children pf immigrant Europeans. The center thinks it is all a new development and songbirds are disappearing. You must miss it. )
