I’d like to add one personal observation. Although I’m not at all inclined to depression, still, at times of sadness, grief, or shock, my usual facility with meter sometimes fails. Poems I’ve drafted at such moments tend to be in syllabics.
Maybe someone will figure out exactly what this means. Could it be a sign of disruption in brain waves? Who knows?
Fortunately it has (so far) always returned after a short time.
