Hey, thanks Cally. I just joined Facebook (I sold out, ha) and actually was shocked by friends from the innocent past. Culturally, I can confidently say I'm no longer American. Which I'm not necessarily proud of, but it is what it is. Australians are often used by the left (like me) as a model. Maybe I've used that in an argument, or two, or three. But every country does have its own history and culture to contend with. I think in the states, guns are inextricably connected to oppression, not shooting wildlife that might eat you while you're trying to settle somewhere. (Grizzly bears are pretty hardcore though...) My very good friend and colleague would like to link this American thing for guns to slavery, and I don't think he's far off.
