Oh my goodness, Roger -- I've never seen the video! Robin Williams!! I almost cried before I couldn't stop smiling. He will always make me smile. Amazing about the whole soundtrack....

Here are two of my all-time fave, always effective happy-making songs:

That Blood Sweat & Tears song was on the second album I ever bought as a kid. I played it so much I could sing along down to the last syllable or grunt or deep breath of every song. "When I Die" and "Spinning Wheel" especially.

Here's a wonderful acapella song. It sounds like an old anonymous classic, but I believe she wrote it. The Road to Aberdeen

Carl Orff: Carmina Burana with piano and percussion. Great performance! The soprano soloist is wonderful.

.

This conversation has a wonderful meandering to it...

Tim: "The world is overflowing with good music."

Yes, no question. The world is overflowing with all things; with hidden gems and things plain as the nose on my face.
What I have in less abundance is a cultivated imagination. Here on Erato I am lucky to have found so many varieties of it... and am grateful to those who are kind enough to help me find it; because it is indeed everywhere.

One needn’t look any further than the Bobby McFerrin song that Roger posted to hear, see, feel music’s curative powers.

Here's another shade of happiness and yearning, by John Lennon, with the extra treat of crazy harmonica in the middle and end.

A thread such as this gives me a place to stop and sit and be with it all. Bernstein’s Mass, among others, brought me to tears. Ian Dury brought me to tears. Iz always does (native/folk Hawaiian music is sublime). And the McCartney video is a treasure for those of us who revere the music the Beatles created... And all the others posted here.

Does anyone here know Reina del Cid? I don't want to oversell her. She's not "great," but she is very good and likeable and covers songs from her apartment at the rate of one a week (she also writes some songs), often with her friend Toni Lindgren on the guitar. This Randy Newman cover is very cheerful and sweet. Have a listen.

Nice Roger — Perfect song for a duet... Great song, great movie, too (pun incidental). It might be fun to post different covers of songs like this.

Here's the composer himself singing duet with master mandolinist Chris Thile of Live From Here/Prairie Home Companion radio show.

Here's a medley of Beatle songs that span their 8 years in existence covered by the Canadian band Walk off the Earth.

Here's Reina del Cid doing one solo. Skip the first 55 seconds if you don't want the chattering preamble. Can't Help Falling in Love.

And here's a cover of a very fine song written by Chris Stapleton, though I really like the way AJ Lee does it: If It Hadn't Been for Love. But I like her cover of Kate Wolf even better: Here In California

And finally, here's one sung by someone I think is a major talent, Sarah Jarosz. I already posted a link to a song of hers, and Julie mentioned her "Ring Them Bells" cover (which I have probably posted and foisted on more people on social media than any other song), but here's another Dylan song she did recently. I hadn't actually remembered this song. She does a fine job. Take note not just of her vocals, but the way she handles that guitar: Sign on the Window
