Default Poetry Archive Now Wordview 2024

“The Poetry Archive is the only charity wholly dedicated to the production, acquisition and preservation of recordings of significant poets reading their work aloud.”

For the past few years they have also been running a competition asking anyone who cares to do so to record a video of themselves reading their work. Any topic, free to enter. They then pick the 20 best entries and add them to their annual collection. This year I was lucky enough to be included. I think there were only 130 entries, so the bar was not vertiginously high and I would encourage any Eratosphereans who like the sound of their own voice to enter. Winners get £100 payment.

Here is the link to this year’s collection. My poem My Dog Has No Nose appears about three quarters the way down.

Loved your video (and bookmarked the site for later exploration)!

Well done, Joe. I tell awful jokes, too.

Apologies for bumping this up. Just to say thank you Mark, Julie & Glenn.

The Poetry Archive team were quite keen that we spread the word about this competition and I will let Eratospherians know when the 2025 dates are settled.

Merry Christmas all

Joe
