Shakespeare Sonnet Winners
For the fourth time in five years, a poem of mine has been selected as a winner in the Maria Faust Sonnet Contest, which is part of the annual Great River Shakespeare Festival held in Winona, MN.
Each year hundreds of sonnets are submitted by poets from across the U.S. and from overseas. Prizes are awarded in several categories. My winning sonnet is titled “The Great Deniers.”
Members of the Sphere will also recognize the following poets whose sonnets won awards in the contest: Gail White for “The Lady Explains,” Jean Kreiling for “Seeing Her Way,” and Ernest Hilbert for “Misshapen Chaos of Well-Seeming Forms.”
Members of the Great River Shakespeare Festival company read all of the winning poems at the Sonnet Contest Awards Event on the Winona State University campus on Saturday, August 4.

Congratulations, Richard, and all the others who were winners in the contest! I enjoyed reading the sonnets that were posted.

Congratulations again to all of you--it's been great reading your winning entries. (The prizes won by Light contributors have now been trumpeted on our News page. )
