Duck is a thing with feathers
related to the goose,
close cousin to the trumpet swan;
but really, what’s the use
of squabbling over what’s afloat
on Marion’s pastel?
“A pink and purple stain”, you say?
As far as I can tell,
whatever fowl, fair game they be,
and fling, despite the blush,
their joyful souls into the west,
like man and darkling thrush.
